Is feeding my cat raw food expensive? 2026 Edition
A comprehensive article to show that raw feeding your Kitty is MUCH cheaper than you may think. See how it compares to common wet food brands in 2026.

"Raw food is expensive" - Big. Fat. Myth!
For anyone considering making the change to natural feline food in 2026, I would like to dispel the myth that it is more expensive compared with the current popular wet cat foods.
I wrote the first version this article in 2025 to highlight the costly facts, but am doing an updated version here to make it more current to 2026**
If you would like to read 2025's article about feeding costs you can read it here. (in comparison to these figures, it demonstrates an interesting example of rising costs in the UK as well as 'shrinkflation')
I have searched online, looked into the facts for you and done a price analysis based on feeding a healthy adult cat weighing in at the average 4.5kg in April 2026.
Switching to raw is better for the environment as well as your cat, as the packaging waste produced daily with some wet foods is ridiculous!
The prices shown are based on the products' base value (without any kind of offer or subscription applied) and I have calculated it for if you were to buy the smallest available amount of it in one go to keep it as close to the equivalent as possible. The wet food prices come straight from the company they are made by, if possible, and don't include the cost of postage. The raw food costs are Kitty's Rawr Store's current prices.**
I have also stuck with chicken based, complete recipes across the range. I have started with the most expensive and worked my way down - see the costs go down as you scroll down....
